    Благоденствие эпохи.
    Тацит, "Агрикола", 1, 3.
    Этим выражением Тацит характеризует эпоху императоров Нервы (96-98 гг. н. э.) и Траяна (98-117 гг, н. э.), наступившую после деспотического правления Домициана.
    Все уже вкусили "доблего" жития, и оно, наконец, надоело... Что делать? Род людской неблагодарен и злонравен. Felicitas temporum откланивается... нужен реванш... есть потребность в реакции. (Н. С. Лесков, Зимний день (пейзаж и жанр).)

    Действительным, радикальным излечением цензуры было бы ее уничтожение, ибо негодным является само это учреждение, а ведь учреждения более могущественны, чем люди. Наше мнение может быть верным или нет, но во всяком случае благодаря новой инструкции прусские писатели приобретают больше либо действительной свободы, либо идеальной, т. е. больше сознания.     Не могу без самой глубокой грусти вспомнить об Андрее Парфеновиче [ Заблоцком-Десятовском ], которого кончина меня так поразила. Вчера был у него, но опоздал к панихиде и приехал, когда началось бальзамирование.
